Easter Weekend Part 2

Justin figured out how to download the pictures...now he just has to teach me!

After a lovely Easter breakfast and service at church, we headed off to Gammy Gladys' for her annual Easter Feast and Egg Hunt. But before the festivities got rolling...there were a few pre-hunt activities:

  • A boys drive through the backyard. Thank goodness for seat belts! Though the very back one for Hudson got added after a small dragging incident...but Garret is a pretty good driver for a 5-year-old, though I don't think he is quite ready for the streets!

  • Then a few of the gang decided to take a little siesta in some hammocks. That would be Aunt Gail assisting in keeping the hammock from totally cocooning Isaac!

  • Then a few (100) trips down the slide. Isaac finally got to the point where he could go down the slide without someone holding on to his hand. Such a big boy! He even got pretty good at landing on two feet...but not every time!

Then it was time for the BIG moment. Time to hunt for that one special egg, the egg with your name emblazoned across it! Isaac had a little trouble understanding why we kept making him put eggs that he found back, poor kid just didn't understand it was his name we were looking for! Thankfully Garret was there to help Isaac find his egg. (Thanks Chase for not hiding Isaac's too hard!)

And boy was he excited to find the Smarties inside. He totally missed the $2 bill and the $1 gold coin inside too...but I guess when you are 16 months old, you can only folks on the sugar!

Mimi Mary and Grandpa Jack joined us for the festivities too. And they brought an awesome Cars Easter basket, complete with some filled eggs inside. Inside one of the filled eggs was a hard boiled egg. To my knowledge Ike had never seen this kind of egg before. So we showed him how to peel it, and then tried to convince him that he could eat it. As you can tell by the picture below, he wasn't too sure about an egg as a tasty treat!

But after Mommy took a little bite, he took a little, teeny, tiny, itty bitty nibble and lived to tell the tale. Though I dare say he didn't necessarily enjoy it! But we can always try again next year!

Thanks to everyone for sharing in a wonderful afternoon with us. It is always great to hang out with family and friends! Seeing Isaac play with all his cousins (first, second and otherwise) is an awesome sight and a blessing! We just wish everyone could be in the same town on these days...but know that if you aren't able to be with us, we are always thinking of you and sending our love!
